Kizuna — a Japanese word meaning the bonds that connect us — is the inspiration behind everything that follows.

From the Studio to the Brewery

This entire collaboration centers on four original paintings born from a unique partnership between Cobblestone teaching artists Naomi Sprague and Josue Lopez and two of their dedicated students, Charlie and Alison. Together, they created something neither could have made alone — and that spirit of connection became the foundation for this entire project.​​​​

These vibrant works inspired a special summer partnership with Birdhouse Brewing Co., proudly presented by Grover Financial Services in honor of their 10th anniversary. As a longtime supporter of Cobblestone, we are honored to celebrate Grover Financial's milestone by showcasing the bright creative futures of our students.​​​​

The Beer

​

Those four paintings didn't stay on canvas. They became the label art for a brand new limited-edition release: the Kizuna Japanese Rice Lager, brewed by Birdhouse Brewing Co. Light-bodied, crisp, and clean — brewed with flaked rice, Pilsner malt, and a touch of Nelson Sauvin hops — it's the perfect summer pour with a story worth raising a glass to.

The Kizuna Lager is the official beer of the Market & Music Series all summer long, and every purchase supports Cobblestone's mission. A percentage of all sales is donated directly back to Cobblestone to support our arts-based programs for adults with disabilities.

The beer is available all summer, but the original canvases are a once-in-a-season opportunity. The four paintings at the heart of the Kizuna Collection are currently on display at Birdhouse Brewing Co. and available to bid on now. This is your only chance to own the foundational works that inspired this entire project.

100% of auction proceeds benefit the Cobblestone Foundation — the only organization of its kind in New York State — sustaining life-changing arts programming for over 150 students with disabilities across a six-county region.

The Kizuna Collection comes to life across Birdhouse Brewing Co.'s summer Market & Music Series — three free outdoor events featuring live music, local artisan vendors, great food, and community vibes all season long. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and come hang with us.
