    Dayhabilitation Program Celebrating the Arts Day Program Our "Celebrating the Arts" Day Habilitation Program is a full day NYS Medicaid Waivered Program. Classes run from 9am to 2pm, Monday through Friday, all year long. Our participants in the program range from students transitioning out of high school to senior citizens. The program is structured similar to a school day. Students with similar interests are joined together in small groups to participate in hour long classes. After the hour long class students switch to a different classroom to explore a different Art discipline for the following hour. Our diversity of classes in Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Creative Writing, and Media Studies are based on a three month theme that is collectively decided by staff and students alike. Previous themes have explored the history and Arts forms of the Greek Mythology, The Golden Era of Hollywood, Science in the Arts, Exploring the Sea, Rogers and Hammerstein, and more. Intake Packet Classes Music Our music classes focus on vocal instruction. Through reciting lyrics, working on pronunciation and memorizing songs, students work on diaphragmatic motor skills, emotional skills, communication skills, and cognitive skills. Dance and Movement We emphasize leadership through learning choreography and supporting one another. Dance enhances cognitive, emotional, and motor skills by incorporating yoga, ballet, ballroom, jazz, tap, and musical theatre techniques in classes. Theater and Public Speaking Students are involved in all aspects of theater productions throughout the year. They learn songs, dialogue, assist with making sets, costumes, and more. All shows are performed for friends, family, and the community. Visual Arts Our visual arts classes allow students to focus on their ow creative expression through various artistic mediums like painting, sculpture and drawing. Our visual arts classes have proven to be great in strengthening emotional skills, visual motor skills, and fine & gross motor skills. Community Engagement through Performances and Educational Lectures We pride ourselves on the developing of great relationships with community groups, artists and educators. These visitors lend their knowledge and talents to provide an enriching experience for our students and are also open to the public. Monthly Lunchtime Concerts and Lunchtime Lecture series open the doors to arts and culture for the whole community. Our Lunchtime Concerts feature a variety of musical performers, from soloists to full ensembles, and the Lunchtime Lectures offer talks on topics ranging from the arts, culture and general wellness.     ABOUT US Our Mission & Vision It is our unique mission to use the Arts as the common denominator in our vastly diverse community, to let Art be that unspoken language of the heart that breaks through prejudices and stereotypes, that nurtures the soul and brings every member of the community together to appreciate each other's gifts. ​ Cobblestone Arts and Educational Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the community for all ages and abilities through Art, Education, and Participation. Our classes in Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Public Speaking, and Media Studies are aimed to help students achieve a higher potential while developing a sense of involvement in the community. History History History The Cobblestone Arts Center is a non-profit 501c3 and was founded in 1983 to bring the visual and performing arts to the rural community. All ages and abilities have always been welcome. Cobblestone wheelchair dance company, Wheels In Motion, began in 1986 and gave inspiration to form an all day arts classes for adults with disabilities. Through music, dance, visual arts, and theatre these cobblestone students gain a great sense of value and accomplishment connecting with each other and the community. We are proud to bring all the arts to the community, a unique after school program, and a new theatre space for the whole area to enjoy live performances.
